COURSES TAUGHT AT U OF M
IOE 513 – Seminar in Health Care Operations Research
This course provides an overview of the role of operations research in healthcare. It surveys and evaluates research done in this field and addresses some of the key technical issues encountered when developing healthcare operations research models. Insights will be shared about carrying out collaborative research with healthcare professionals.
IOE 316 – Introduction to Markov Processes
Introduction to discrete and continuous Markov chains, including transient and limiting behavior. The emphasis is on model formulation and probabilistic analysis. Topics covered include discrete time Markov chains, finite-horizon Markov Decision Processes, a review of the exponential distribution and its properties, the Poisson process, continuous time Markov chains, and applications of queueing theory.
IOE 440 – Operations Analysis and Management
Principles and models for analyzing, and managing manufacturing and service operations as well as supply chains. Emphasis on inventory management and control, capacity management, queueing models of operational dynamics (including cycle time, work-in-process inventory, throughput, and variability), the math and physics of enterprises.
